If gaps in your teeth or discolored teeth are bothering you, bonding may be the right solution!

Dental Bonding

At Amaya Dental, our reputed team of dental professionals specialize in bonding to give your teeth a quick makeover, restoring your confidence in your smile.

Bonding is one of the easiest and quickest way to give a smile makeover and to repair minor damages on the teeth. A composite resin that matches the color of the tooth is applied on the damaged tooth or teeth to repair the chipped, discolored or fractured tooth. While veneers take multiple visits because they need to be manufactured to fit the tooth, bonding is completed in just one visit. Being minimally invasive and painless, bonding gives effective results in the most comfortable way.

Composite Bonding- In this method, our expert dentists use tooth-colored composite resins to fill gaps, cavities or to repair cracks and chips on the teeth. These composites resemble the natural color of the teeth. These materials may be applied or sculpted on the teeth surfaces directly.

Adhesive Bonding- In this process used in bridges, inlays, crowns and porcelain veneers, a restoration is attached to the tooth.

Bonding is highly useful in restoring aesthetics and functionality. Being the least expensive of all other dental treatments, it is also the easiest and the quickest way to address many dental issues. Some benefits of bonding include:

  • Repair of decayed teeth where composite resins can be used to fill the cavities
  • Repair of cracked or chipped teeth
  • Enhancing the look of discolored teeth
  • Closure of teeth spaces
  • Making a tooth longer
  • Changing teeth shape
  • As an alternative to amalgam based fillings
  • As a cover for exposed roots on the receding gums

At your first visit, dental professionals at Amaya Dental evaluate your medical and medication history apart from reviewing dental health. If needed, dental X-rays, digital radiography or CT imaging as required may be ordered to rule out other chronic conditions.

Our reputed dentists then help you select the right composite color for the resin using a shade guide that will match the damaged tooth.

After the resin color has been chosen, the next step is to clean and abrade the tooth surface. A coat of conditioning liquid is then applied to help bond the resin.

The dentist will then apply the chosen color of the resin, ensuring it fits into the proper shape by molding and smoothening. Using a laser or ultraviolet light, the resin is then hardened. The next step is to shape the resin further by trimming it as needed. Lastly, the resin material is polished until it matches the natural sheen of your tooth.

The entire process takes only 30 minutes to a maximum of an hour to complete.

General or local anesthesia is not needed as the procedure is painless. Following bonding, our dental experts also advise on the care you need to take to avoid staining or damage of the resin. This includes avoiding caffeine-containing beverages such as coffee, tea, soft drinks, and cigarettes. For the first 48 hours, it is important to avoid dark colored foods or caffeine-containing foods apart from cigarettes to avoid stains on the resin.
