Dental sealants are the best and most effective solution for preventing cavities in the molar and premolar teeth

Dental Sealants

Preventative dentistry in Miami

Sealants are thin, plastic resin coatings which are painted on the surfaces of the teeth we use for chewing, that is, the teeth at the back of the mouth. These teeth do not have a smooth surface, but instead, have tiny crevices which our toothbrushes can’t always reach. Hence, it’s easier for bacteria and food particles to collect in these depressions, known as pits and fissures of the teeth, making your molars and pre-molars more prone to cavity development.

Cavity development is especially common among children, as their teeth enamel is not as strong as in adults. For this reason, it is recommended that children, as soon as their back teeth erupt, have dental sealants applied. Even adults with cavities can benefit from the application of dental sealants.

At Amaya Dental, our team of professionals will ensure that you or your child receives quality care and service should you opt for dental sealants.

We will apply premium dental sealant on the surface of your back teeth using state-of-the-art tools and equipment, so that it will act as a protective shield covering your tooth enamel, thereby preventing the formation of dental cavities.

When it comes to dental sealants, Miami residents have to look no further than Amaya Dental. Having been in the dental industry for years, we know just the right treatment you will require, and we make this service available at cost-effective rates.

The process of applying dental sealants is fairly simple and painless. It does not require any downtime, and the patient can carry on with their daily activities without any interruption. First, your dentist at Amaya Dental will thoroughly clean the tooth on which the dental sealant will be applied. If cavity has already developed minimally, that will be removed gently. Then, it will be washed using water and dried.

After this, an acidic solution which will roughen the surface of the tooth, known as an etching solution, is applied and rinsed off, before the tooth is dried again. This will make the dental sealant stick to the tooth better. Finally, your dentist will apply the liquid dental sealant, and harden it using a curing light. It takes only about a minute to harden, after which you can use the tooth as usual.

In some cases, a dental sealant which does not require light to harden may be used. The sealant is usually white, clear or invisible or it may have a slight tint.

Below we outline the reasons why you should get dental sealants for your child or you at Amaya Dental.
